Blackmer® Series Pumps Optimize Biodiesel Processing
Vane pump offers energy efficiency, high-level performance and low maintenance costs
Grand Rapids, MI — Blackmer®,a global leader in positive displacement rotary vane and reciprocating-gas compressor technologies, has designed its XL Series Sliding Vane Pumps to deliver optimum performance in biodiesel processing, filling and transfer applications. XL Pumps meet the needs of biodiesel producers because they possess the operational ability to seamlessly handle a wide array of unique feedstocks, due mainly to their consistent volumetric output, easy-to-maintain operation and energy-efficient construction.
XL pumps are constructed of ductile iron that will withstand sudden thermal shock and stress well beyond the capabilities of cast iron. All models are fitted with replaceable casing liners and end discs that allow easy rebuilding of the pump 
without the need to remove the pump from the piping. The XL models are available in 1.25-, 1.5-, 2-, 3- and 4-inch port sizes with flow capacities from 5 to 345 gpm (19 to 1,305 lpm). The 1.25- and 1.5-inch models have NPT-tapped ports, while the 2-, 3- and 4-inch models have flanged ports. They also feature Blackmer's unique sliding-vane pump design that self-adjusts for wear, while the vanes can be easily replaced without removing the pump from the piping system.
Standard elastomers include FKM O-rings with optional Buna-N or PTFE elastomers also available. A wide variety of mechanical seal components
and vane materials are optional. Mounting options include base-mounting or an integral bracket for direct mounting to a NEMA C-face motor. Base-mounted unit assemblies with helical gear-reduction drives are available for all XL models.
